Maleny Bowls Club hosts night bowls again

The Maleny bowls club has re-commenced the popular night social bowls on a Wednesday night. Night bowls was first tried earlier in the year and proved very popular, however with the onset of winter it was suspended until the weather warmed up again. With the first Wednesday in September once again the club has hosted another round of social bowls. The night starts at 6p.m. with a B.B.Q. tea and then into the bowl. It is an inexpensive night of great fun. The first night of this season saw over 40 social bowlers hit the green. Mostly they had played in the last social rounds earlier in the year and were glad to be back for some great social fellowship. A player does not need to have previous experience to play and have fun. Basic rules are quickly picked up and with some playing experience the knack of the game will be quickly gained. Over the past few years the club has upgraded the green surface to a synthetic grass, installed lights for night playing and installed a solar system to power those lights. Club chairman, Ian Hansen said, “It is good to see so many people back on the green. Adding the new facilities is now proving to be worthwhile.” There is always a warm welcome awaiting new players and all you need to do is front up on a Wednesday night and you will be introduced to a team. If you wish to make up a team from work or social group that too is welcomed. Just front up and register your team.
